1. Promoting Rice based integrated farming with locality specific components.
2. Exploring the scope for large-scale mechanization in the rice farming situation of Kuttanad (low-lying, waterlogged rice ecosystems).
3. Inculcating an organic farming culture in small and medium sized landowners
4. Encouraging rotational farming in rice monoculture with fish/prawn or vegetables
5. Promoting agriculture allied enterprises like Mushroom Cultivation, fish/Prawn Farming etc. as a source of additional income 
6. Kitchen gardens / Nutrition Gardens as a means of getting organically produced vegetables for the family
7. Promoting other enterprises like value addition of agricultural produce, floriculture etc.
8. Scientific Fish/prawn seed production
9. Promoting Ornamental fish culture as a means of additional income
10. Integrated Pest Management strategies
11. Balanced nutrition in cultivated crops and
12. Homestead farming

Various need-based training programmes, On-Farm Testings (OFTs) and Frontline Demonstrations (FLDs) of technologies under the different disciplines are regularly organised by the KVK
